This 10 week paid Summer Internship Program has been developed for students to gain practical training and hands-on experience that will help them meet their educational goals and prepare them for their professional careers in real estate. When creating our Program, we carefully assessed what made an internship experience meaningful. Our goal is to provide you with a dynamic and engaging learning experience, and the opportunity to develop while having dedicated support around you.

About This Role
Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC) offers a unique internship opportunity for rising 2L or rising 3L students. Join us as a Legal Intern and become an integral part of our dynamic team at Lincoln Avenue Communities. You'll work closely with the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel and the paralegal team on a wide range of legal matters, offering a valuable opportunity to work with an intimate and best-in-class team. As part of this role, you'll be involved in drafting essential legal documents, assisting with entity formation, and contributing to the efficient operation of our legal department. You'll also have the chance to dive into real-world contract review, summarizing key provisions, and participating in various real estate closings. If you have a keen interest in real estate law and affordable housing, this internship is your chance to make a significant impact and accelerate your legal career.
What You'll Do
- Report to the Associate General Counsel on a variety of matters. The ideal candidate will be responsive, demonstrate an eagerness to learn, and a strong critical thinker.
- Assist with drafting and reviewing transaction documents (including joint venture agreements, loan agreements, and public/private partnership agreements) and organizational documents; help with entity formation and other corporate housekeeping; handle legal administrative tasks as needed.
- Review vendor contracts and other third-party agreements; summarize key provisions of purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, partnership agreements, and other legal documents.
- Assist legal team and other departments on various real estate closings.
What We're Looking For
- The candidate must be enrolled at an ABA-Accredited Law School and have completed at least 1 year of coursework prior to beginning the internship.
- Strong academic credentials, with a preference for prior work experience.
- Involvement with legal extracurricular activities.
- Excellent organizational skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office are a must.
- The candidate should have an interest in real estate law and affordable housing.
