INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is accepting applications from current law students to serve in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) as Summer Legal Honors Interns for a ten-week period during the summer of 2025.
NASA OGC Summer Legal Honors Interns may serve at the following NASA Centers or Headquarters (HQ) practice groups:
Position Center(s)/Practice Group(s)
(A) • Ames Research Center (Mountain View, California)/Glenn Research Center (Cleveland, Ohio) (Intern may be shared by these locations or each location may have its own intern)
- Position(s) may be remote, in-person, or hybrid – applicants should list which option(s) they are willing to pursue: In-person requirements will be negotiated prior to acceptance of internship offer.
(B) • Goddard Spaceflight Center (Greenbelt, Maryland)
- Hybrid (a mixture of on-site and remote/virtual): In-person requirements will be negotiated prior to acceptance of internship offer.
(C) • Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX)
- Hybrid (a mixture of on-site and remote/virtual): In-person requirements will be negotiated prior to acceptance of internship offer.
(D) • Marshall Spaceflight Center (Huntsville, Alabama)

The law practice of NASA OGC is dynamic, interesting, and spirited. Our legal professionals work as a cohesive and collegial organization, providing a full range of legal advice and legal services for NASA’s programs and operations. We are an industrious team of public servants who are focused on results while embracing camaraderie, cooperation, mutual respect, and passion for the practice of law. As such, NASA OGC Summer Legal Honors Interns may expect to work on a broad range of legal matters encountered by the world’s premier space agency. Such matters may include litigation and transactional activities involving government contracts, commercial agreements, intellectual property, employment and labor law, government ethics, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) matters and requests, international law, national security law, and space law. Interns may expect to attend meetings, review documents, perform legal research, draft legal memoranda, and analyze statutes, regulations, and case law. Selected candidates will evidence the following characteristics: managing and organizing information to be successful in working on a broad range of legal matters and exhibits teamworking skills that evidence an ability to embrace camaraderie, cooperation, mutual respect, diversity, and passion for the practice of law.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: If you are interested in applying, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen and a current law student (or LL.M. student) attending an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law school in the U.S. Furthermore, you must have a minimum law school G.P.A. of 3.0 or top 30% of class. If your law school does not provide G.P.A.s or class rankings, or you do not yet have a G.P.A. assigned, please provide evidence of good academic standing.
COMPENSATION: The stipend for this internship is approximately $9,900.00. Any living or travel costs associated with the internship are to be borne by the intern.
