The Vertex Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. Job Summary:
The Commercial and Development Legal team provides legal support to our North America and Global business partners focused on development, regulatory and commercial efforts of our commercial and pipeline products.Our group interacts daily with various internal stakeholders including Commercial, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development and Operations, Regulatory Advertising and Promotion, Regulatory Strategy, Patient Safety, Quality, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, and Corporate Communications. The intern will support a broad range of health care regulatory law matters that enable Vertex to create transformative medicines for people with serious diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
The individual in this position will:
- Research and analyze legal and regulatory issues such as those related to:
- pharmaceutical advertising and promotion;
- fraud and abuse;
- GxP (Good Clinical Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Distribution Practice, etc.);
- clinical trial regulations;
- market access;
- transparency regulations (such as Sunshine Act and clinical trial data transparency);
- FDA regulatory strategy and policy; and
- other state and federal regulations.
- Work collaboratively on projects with other teams within the Legal and Compliance Department, such as privacy and Office of Business Integrity and Ethics (OBIE) teams.
- Assist with other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Enrollment in an accredited law school.
- Demonstrated interest in health care, biotechnology, life sciences, or pharmaceutical law preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent legal research skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States
- Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2025
- Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from May - August 2025
