Description
The Oklahoma City Thunder is seeking a Legal Intern to join our Corporate Legal team to assist in legal and business affairs for all day-to-day activities. This role is open to students who are currently enrolled in a local Oklahoma City ABA-accredited law school.
This internship will begin the week of January 21, 2025. Our internship program offers hands-on experience, along with supplemental activities such as resume reviews, personal and professional development workshops, and events designed to enhance your internship experience. Perks include paid downtown parking and tickets to a home game during the season.
In this role you will:
- Assist the legal department on a broad range of legal matters for the Thunder, including commercial transactions, intellectual property, labor and employment, sweepstakes and contests, and litigation management
- Under the supervision of counsel, assist with drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating commercial agreements, including sponsorship agreements, services agreements, and other general contracts
- Perform general research on ongoing legal issues related to data privacy, copyright, employment law, state and local regulations, and various other matters as needed
- Assist with other general business and legal affairs projects as requested
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Must be a 2L or 3L. Required courses: Contracts
- Presently enrolled at an accredited college or university and approved by your school to receive internship credit
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
Additional details:
This is a paid, in-person internship reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Legal. The work schedule will be 20-29 hours per week. The primary work location is the Thunder corporate office located at the Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for occasional local travel. Physical requirements include bending and lifting up to approximately 30 pounds.
