The JM Family College Internship program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. As part of this program, you will actively contribute to your team’s success, learn about JM Family’s companies and culture while obtaining new skills through learning opportunities, networking events and much more.
JM Family is seeking candidates for its Legal Intern Program. Interns may be placed in the JM Family legal department, or in the legal departments of its three main subsidiaries, Southeast Toyota Distributors, Southeast Toyota Finance (World Omni Financial Corp.), and JM&A Group. This internship will provide opportunities for personal and professional development while working in a collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate will be available to work full time hours during the Summer Internship Program (
May 27, 2025 - August 1, 2025 ).
Responsibilities
- Interns will assist in a variety of legal projects, conduct legal research and provide legal analysis in a variety of areas related to the automotive industry.
- Interns will work directly with in-house attorneys, paralegals and support staff, as well as having routine exposure to other departments in the company.
- The Legal Intern will gain experience working on projects and assignments that relate to practicing law as an in-house attorney as well as projects supporting companywide initiatives.
Qualifications
- Our ideal candidate will be available to work on-site/hybrid at our Deerfield Beach, FL offices for the duration of our 10-week summer program. Other work for the remainder of the internship can be done remotely. Fully remote candidates will be considered but preference will be given to on-site/hybrid candidates
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old at the start of the program (May 27, 2025)
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited law school
- Must have completed 1L coursework at the start of the internship
- Legal research and writing skills
- Basic contract knowledge
- Basic understanding of legal terms
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail
- Candidates should be detail oriented, creative, curious, and willing to contribute as a team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity is required due to the confidential nature of the position in the Legal department.
