Description:
The Gilchrist Law Firm PA, has a great opportunity to work as a Law Clerk under the direction of a Supervisory or Project Manager at the United States Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division.
Location: Hybrid (2 days in-office / 3 days remote)
Note: The status of remote work may change at any time based on business needs. Candidates must be able and willing to work from the office as required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex legal research under the direction of a Supervisory or Project Manager.
- Prepare draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
- Review legal documents for relevance and privilege.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
- Serve as the primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and client staff on larger projects, acting independently and/or as a team leader.
- Provide ongoing legal support specifically for Water cases.
- Manage document review tasks, including cite-checking and editing.
- Work effectively with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures, ensuring thorough and precise document management.
- Collaborate closely with legal teams and provide legal research insights using tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least two years of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
- Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in litigation support or task order-related projects, demonstrating the ability to manage complex cases.
- Strong familiarity with federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research tools.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead teams, particularly on larger legal projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in using legal research tools, such as LEXIS and Westlaw, as well as proficiency in a variety of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and imaging tools.
- Hands-on experience with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures is essential.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Willingness to work in-office as required by client requests and project demands.
