AmLaw 100 firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Business Development and Marketing Department for a paid summer internship. This role will provide hands-on experience in legal marketing, event planning and administrative support.
The Marketing & Business Development intern works closely under the supervision of the department’s staff members. This internship will provide the opportunity for hand-on marketing experience in areas including content marketing, social media, website content, database support, event planning and support, among other daily tasks as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Provides support to the Business Development & Marketing Department team in their day-to-day activities and long-term projects, including Digital Marketing, Communications, Events and Research.
- Aids in social media efforts, including posting content to LinkedIn and other channels.
- Assist Digital Marketing team with website and blog content management.
- Assist with data maintenance in support of mailing lists and marketing technology tool implementation.
- Monitor and compile news coverage of the firm and its attorneys.
- Help with communications related research articles.
- Collaborate with events team to prepare checklists, templates and procedures for use at various firm events.
- Assist with planning and coordination of events for summer law student clerkship program.
- Assist with preparations for Columbus office client-facing events, internal meetings and lunches.
- Support local office marketing requests such as ads for sponsorship events, attorney biography updates, and other attorney needs.
- Attends regular department meetings to discuss current projects and future strategic initiatives and plans.
Qualification Requirements
Applicant must be a current undergraduate student majoring in marketing, communications,business, advertising, journalism or similar with an interest in pursuing a career in marketing. In addition, applicant must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, social media platforms, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Strong attention to detail, excellent writing skills and an excellent client service attitude are necessary. The ability to think creatively, meet deadlines, stay organized and handle multiple priorities and projects at once are also required.

Education/Experience
- Third- or fourth-year college student, preferably studying in Marketing, Communications, Business, or another related field.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with WordPress
- Familiarity with AP style.
Language Skills
Ability to speak effectively with professional and support staff. Interpersonal communication skills necessary to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy and professionalism in these interactions.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

The expected compensation for this position is $20/hour.
