Description
We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented law student for a Summer Legal Internship with a strong focus on contract review and deal desk support. In the Legal Department, you'll gain hands-on experience analyzing existing contracts, supporting deal negotiations, and assisting in the development of standardized processes and templates to streamline Turion Space's contract management. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the highly regulated world of satellites and gain exposure to DoD-related initiatives, providing a unique perspective on compliance and contractual obligations in this critical domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Analysis & Review: Review and summarize key clauses in existing contractual agreements, identify potential risks, and recommend improvements or alternative language.
- Deal Desk Support: Help operationalize the deal desk process, ensuring we have the frameworks and procedures in place to support a core function of Turion Space. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Business Development, Engineering, etc.) to facilitate efficient contract workflows; assist in ensuring contracts align with company policies and goals.
- Template Development: Help create or refine standardized contract templates and clause libraries, contributing to the development of Turion Space's deal desk processes.
- Legal Research: Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices that impact contract drafting and negotiation, especially those relevant to aerospace.
- Contract Management: Support the organization and maintenance of contract databases; ensure accurate tracking of all agreements and key obligations, including setting up trackers using spreadsheets and databases.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance our contracting procedures; propose solutions to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the General Counsel and other departments to refine contracting strategies, foster compliance, and create a consistent review process.
Qualifications
- Current law student (rising 2L or 3L preferred) at an accredited institution.
- Strong interest in contracts, commercial law, and the aerospace or high-tech industries.
- Excellent writing and communication skills; ability to clearly articulate legal and business concepts.
- High level of attention to detail and capability to work with precision under deadlines.
- Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Willingness to work on-site at our Irvine office for the duration of the summer internship.
