Position: Legal Intern (Summer 2025)
Salary: $12.00/hr
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide services within the City Attorney’s Office and obtain experience and mentorship opportunities with the City’s Legal Counsel.
This Internship is a full-time, temporary position for 12 weeks during Summer 2025. It is an hourly paid temporary position and does not include the offer of benefits. There is flexible scheduling and college/university credit may be provided, as applicable. Interns receive direction and guidance from attorneys employed by the City.

- Attend meetings of City Council, other City boards and commissions, and City staff meetings
- Work on specialized confidential legal research and writing, preparation of legal documents, including pleadings
- Reviewing and analyzing federal and state laws and regulations and local ordinances
- Preparing presentations of research and analysis performed
- Ability to perform any and all work tasks and comply with any work schedules, attendance, or duty requirements which may be established by City or department rules
- Perform other related duties, as required
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
· Must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and be presently enrolled as a first or second year law student or be on a leave of absence from an accredited law school, or be a recent graduate of an accredited law school and have already completed a minimum of one year of legal education. (Note that this position is not likely to result in permanent employment with the City.)
· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
· Work requires considerable initiative and independent judgment under general direction.
· Work may include duties and responsibilities of considerable difficulty, such as ability to analyze, categorize, compare, classify, differentiate, and/or sort data and information. Ability to assemble, copy, record, and transcribe, data.
