The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Intern, Legal:
The 2025 LA28 Internship Program gives current and recent undergraduate students the opportunity to contribute hands-on, meaningful work to crucial planning stages for the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Interns will be placed in a specific functional area, directly supporting the day-to-day work and long-term projects of the team. In addition, interns will participate in unique roundtables, community service, and research projects as a cohort to deepen understanding of the organization, our mission, and key skillsets to pursue a future in the future field of their choice. This is a paid, 10-week, 30-hour-a-week program, in person at our Los Angeles Headquarters.
The Legal team supports every functional area at LA28, including our external affairs, finance, human resources, Games planning & delivery, technology, and commercial teams, and more. The Legal Intern will work on a wide variety of projects across the organization and learn not only what it takes to put on a Games but also practical legal to help provide a strong start to their careers. The Legal team is comprised of three pods (Commercial & Sales, Games Delivery & Planning, and Business Operations Services & Sourcing), and the Legal Intern would be able to join projects across the pods.

Key Responsibilities:
- Draft a variety of contracts, ranging from athlete/influencer engagements and non-disclosure agreements to technology solutions and creatives services agreements
- Participate in working groups and discussions with the Legal team and cross functionally
- Support key projects around intellectual property and managing our “A” logos
- Draft intellectual property compliance guides
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Draft legal memos and summaries
Background & Qualifications:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a mainly in-person environment, 4-5 days in our Los Angeles office
- Must be able to work the full 10 week duration of the internship from June 16 – August 22, 30 hours a week
- This role requires extended periods of computer use and virtual collaboration.
- Occasional travel to venue sites or external events may be required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- May need to work some non-traditional work hours for specific events, such as evenings or weekends (will be communicated well in advance)
- May require lifting and transporting materials, such as documents, technology equipment, or event-related supplies (up to 25 lbs).
Education:
- Undergraduate degree required.
- Must be currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school and have completed at least one academic year of law school by the time the internship program starts (rising 2L or 3L).
Expectations:
- Concrete understanding of basic legal and business transactional principles.
- Ability to handle deadline-intensive work, including excellent project and time management skills and ability to manage and prioritize changing workloads to meet deadlines.
- Concise grammatical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent word processing and database management skills, and experience preparing legal documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
- Strong ability to interact diplomatically and with professional maturity with internal colleagues and external business partners.
- Excellent judgment, knowing when to escalate issues.
- Excellent analytical skills, capable of identifying and prioritizing issues and providing alternative solutions.
- Ability to make sense of complex and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve issues.

Interns can expect an hourly rate of $18.00 per hour and will be scheduled to work a 30-hour week. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
