Summary:
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is looking for a currently enrolled first-year or second-year law school student (rising 2L or 3L) to join its Legal Center as a Summer Law Clerk. The Legal Center works to rein in regulatory overreach, protect hard-fought legislative gains and ensure a level playing field for manufacturers by engaging in party litigation, providing amicus support in key cases and promoting awareness of the legal issues that impact the vitality of the manufacturing sector. Responsibilities:
- Support the NAM Legal Center’s amicus program by drafting summaries of amicus filings for internal and external stakeholders. The amicus program allows NAM to support important litigation affecting the manufacturing industry by submitting legal briefs in key cases.
- Contribute to the Legal Center’s weekly newsletter which is sent to over 4,000 manufacturing counsel by summarizing litigation and legislative and executive branch developments.
- Assist with the tracking and organization of court filings.
- Other duties as assigned that may include assisting in the preparation of legal documents or attending internal meetings.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school program.
- Outstanding academic record in relevant course work.
- Two references, preferably from an academic advisor or faculty member of the law school currently attending.
- Excellent writing, editing, critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Some prior experience in a business environment is preferred
Compensation:
This role has an hourly range of $20 - $25 per hour and be expected to work between 25-35 hours per week.
Duration:
The position will begin in early June and will run a total of 8 to 10 weeks.
